Screwdrivers™ for XP Remote Desktop is a solution for those using Microsoft Remote Desktop to log into to a remote XP workstation, and would like to print to a local printer. There is a ScrewDrivers™ client to install on the local client machine, and a ScrewDrivers™ Server that it installed on the XP Workstation being logged in to. When the user logs in to the XP Workstation, ScrewDrivers™ will query each local print driver on the client machine. ScrewDrivers™ then creates virtual printers on the XP workstation that the user has setup.

When a user goes to print to one of the ScrewDrivers™ printers, the print job is spooled on the XP workstation, compressed and converted to our ScrewDrivers™ format, then sent to the client machine through a virtual channel.

When the print job reaches the client, ScrewDrivers™ will decompress it and print it out as a local print job. This solution is especially useful for remote printing environments that allow users to login to their office workstations from home or in a virtual desktop environment, as it allows the user to print locally no matter where they are.
